In August 2011, the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) proposed new rules directly impacting Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits, dispute resolution and medical fee schedule regulations. The proposed changes were followed by a comment period that expired in October 2011.

After receiving thousands of comments, on Feb. 21, DOBI reacted by making substantive changes to the newly proposed regulations in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act (APA).
