Bring Your Own Barrister — A Sayreville gentlemen’s club locked in litigation with the borough over its proposed ouster now seeks damages in a federal civil rights suit.


 

Club 35 owner Doreen Acciardi, in a complaint filed in Newark on Thursday, claims Sayreville crafted a special law to force the club’s closure. Ordinance No. 99-09, adopted in July 2009, banned establishments from allowing customers to bring in alcohol unless they met the borough’s definition of a “restaurant.” Acciardi was arrested under the provision.
