Plaintiff Catherine Zehl, hired by the Elizabeth Board of Education as a lunch aide, rose to cook-manager at School No. 19. After observing that teacher Marvelis Perreira had left her classroom without supervision, she monitored the children until Perreira’s return. She later was called to the board office where an investigating officer questioned her about the incident.
