When Eisai’s legal department was handed a lemon a budget that froze its capital expenditures it did the only thing possible: Make frozen lemonade.
The department had selected a software provider to install a much-needed litigation-hold system when it got the news in the fall of 2010 that there was no money for the project. Failure to preserve potentially relevant litigation evidence can have drastic consequences, and the system had to be modernized. So this plucky group became software designers of sorts they did it themselves.
