An ironworker allegedly injured during renovation of a shopping mall accepted $1.5 million on June 25 to settle his Bergen County suit, Mulligan v. Vornado Realty Trust.

On June 16, 2008, at the Bergen Mall in Paramus (since renamed as Bergen Town Center), Adam Mulligan was performing welding work from a boom lift on a ceiling 30 feet in the air. As he backed up the lift, it ran atop a thin metal plate that covered a 10 ft. x 15 ft. opening in the floor. The lift fell through the plate and into the basement, and Mulligan was thrown to the floor.
