Carella, Byrne, Cecchi, Olstein, Brody & Agnello of Roseland defeated the 2011 champions at Genova Burns Giantomasi & Webster of Newark 13-9 on July 17 in the 26th annual Battle of the Barristers softball tournament benefiting the Greater Newark Fresh Air Fund. Nine law firms from Essex, Morris and Bergen counties, plus the legal department from Prudential, competed in the event at Yogi Berra Stadium in Upper Montclair. Other participating firms were Cole Schotz Meisel Forman & Leonard; Connell Foley; Gibbons; Jackson Lewis; Lowenstein Sandler; McCarter & English and Walder, Hayden & Brogan. More than a third of the fund’s donations are raised through this yearly event.
Association Tracking Corporate Women’s Progress
The National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) Foundation announced a new initiative on tracking the advancement of women attorneys in corporate legal departments at the group’s spring reception on May 23 at Gibbons in Newark. Christine Amalfe, a director at Gibbons, and Holly English, a partner at Nukk-Freeman & Cerra in Short Hills, co-chaired the event.
