The state Supreme Court on Thursday reprimanded Elizabeth Municipal Court Judge Richard Obuch for representing a city official in federal and state civil matters while sitting as a judge.

Though Obuch’s legal work for Oscar Ocasio, Elizabeth’s director of policy and planning, were in personal matters unrelated to city government, the court found Obuch violated Rule 1:15-1(b)’s ban on acting as an attorney “for the municipality or any of the municipalities served by the court or as an attorney for any agency or officer thereof.”
