Car rental company Avis in Parsippany announced on Jan. 2 it paid about $491 million for Zipcar, a car-sharing provider in Cambridge, Mass. Avis was advised by a team from Kirkland Ellis in New York City; Zipcar by a team from Latham & Watkins in Boston.
$106M Buy for Curtiss-Wright
Manufacturer Curtiss-Wright Corp. of Parsippany announced on Jan. 14 it paid about $106 million in cash for specialty-valve maker Phönix in Volkmarsen, Germany, from equity firm Axa Private Equity in Paris. Phönix will become part of Curtiss-Wright’s Flow Control company in Falls Church, Va.
