Blame It on Sandy — A state judge last Wednesday voided results of a public question on Hoboken rent controls, finding Hudson County officials improperly rejected emergency ballots of some voters affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Voters were asked last November whether controls should be lifted on buildings with fewer than four units after a tenant vacated a particular apartment. The question was defeated, 8,248 to 8,196, but 15 voters claimed disenfranchisement when the county Board of Elections did not follow Gov. Chris Christie‘s executive orders that voting rules be eased for storm victims.
