Wendy Johnson Lario, shown, a partner with Greenberg Traurig in Morristown, received the 2013 Equality Award from the Alice Paul Institute during an awards ceremony on April 25 at The Mansion on Main Street in Voorhees. The award is presented to individuals who capture the spirit of Alice Paul, a suffragist, who dedicated her life to equal rights for women. Lario chairs her firm’s New Jersey Labor and Employment Practice and is the immediate past president and nominations chairwoman of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association.

N.J. Women Lawyers Hold Gala

More than 650 attorneys and judges attended the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association’s sixth annual Women’s Initiative and Leaders in Law (WILL) Platinum Gala on March 20 at The Grove in Cedar Grove. The association gave its WILL Platinum Award, for contributions to gender equity issues, to Lynda Bennett, a partner with Lowenstein Sandler in Roseland and past president of NJWLA; Jennifer Velez, commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Human Services; U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Judith Wizmur; New Jersey Supreme Court Associate Justice Jaynee LaVecchia; Rutgers Law School-Newark Dean Frances Bouchoux; and Lucinda Long, senior vice president and general counsel, Valley National Bank. U.S. Magistrate Judge Madeline Cox Arleo was mistress of ceremonies and former White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers the keynote speaker.
