The widow of a pedestrian who died of injuries suffered when a landscaper’s truck hit him accepted $1.03 million on Oct. 23 to settle a presuit wrongful death claim, Estate of Vieira v. Guaranteed Landscaping.

According to plaintiff attorney Brian Ansell,the accident occurred on Nov. 26, 2012, when Manuel Vieira, then 75, was walking on West Farm Road near Heritage Drive in Middletown. He suffered rib and clavicle fractures and pulmonary lacerations and remained hospitalized until his death on Feb. 28.
