A former school board clerk will have to stand trial on charges she stole hundreds of confidential board documents in an effort to bolster her discrimination lawsuit.
A divided New Jersey appeals court panel found that the indictment of Ivonne Saavedra on theft and official-misconduct charges can stand based on prima facie evidence, despite her contention that she was engaged in a protected activity when she took the documents.
