The term “revenge porn” refers to the publication of intimate depictions of former partners by exes. Images that were not intended to be public are posted on social networks after a breakup, causing great distress to the person depicted.

It requires no great insight to envision the harm caused to the victim, in terms of adverse public reaction and interminable badgering from viewers of the post. Any possible criminal prosecution or civil action for violation of privacy or allied tort, even if a temporary injunction is obtained, is unlikely to mitigate the multiple dissemination of the offending image.
