The federal Consumer Product Safety Commission has been involved with over 1,000 companies undertaking voluntary recalls to get their unsafe products off the market. Now the commission is considering a new rule to govern such recalls.
The commission has mandated recalls less than 15 times, so changing the rules for the voluntary recall process becomes even more significant.
