A Camden County jury on Jan. 14 awarded $769,000 to a woman injured by a flying garbage can, in Cebollero v. Republic Services.

The incident occurred on Dec. 4, 2008, on Indian Trail in Deptford, near the home of plaintiff Sara Cebollero, then 29. As she walked past a recycling truck hoisting a recycling can with its mechanical arms, a Rubbermaid trash can that was snagged on the recycling can was propelled into the air and flung over the truck, striking her in the neck and upper back and knocking her forward onto the grass along the road, says her lawyer, Richard Hollawell of Console & Hollawell in Marlton.
