An Assembly bill introduced last month would abolish the N.J. Division of Rate Counsel and transfer its functions to the Attorney General’s Office. The measure would also decrease the membership of the Board of Public Utilities and cut the remaining member’s salaries in half, such that they become part-time employees.

The measure, A-2217, has been referred to the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee where presumably it will receive attention, since sponsor Upendra Chivukula, D-Middlesex, is the committee chairman.
