Drug maker Merck & Co. has agreed to settle federal lawsuits venued in the Eastern District of Missouri Mulitidistrict Litigation, coordinated state lawsuits in New Jersey Superior Court and cases in other courts for $100 million, according to papers filed Friday.

The approval is preliminary. For the settlement to be finalized, 95 percent of eligible plaintiffs must agree to it.
