A divided U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has revived a putative class action over the sodium content of sunflower seeds, ruling that federal law does not preempt the California state law claims.

Judge Barry G. Silverman wrote the majority opinion in which Judge Andrew D. Hurwitz joined. U.S. District Judge C. Roger Vinson, sitting by designation in the Ninth Circuit, dissented.
