The New Jersey Supreme Court is endeavoring to craft a rule on how to admit expert testimony in criminal trials while protecting defendants’ right to confront witnesses against them.
The justices heard arguments in three cases Tuesday where convicted defendants assert they were denied their Sixth Amendment rights because reports introduced by prosecutors were prepared by one expert but testified to by another.
