Female athletes at Kean University whose scholarships were revoked after the NCAA launched a crackdown on the New Jersey school for rules infractions have brought a putative class action, alleging they suffered disparate impact that amounted to gender discrimination.
The plaintiffs, in Pedersen v. National Collegiate Athletic Association, say they were forced to choose between their scholarships and participation in sports due to the school’s discriminatory policies which the NCAA ratified.
