The Golden Nugget casino in Atlantic City is not liable for $1.5 million in winnings racked up by a group of players over the course of a 41-hand streak in mini baccarat, a New Jersey judge says.

Because the unshuffled cards used in the game made it illegal under New Jersey gaming law, Golden Nugget can recover the $558,900 it paid out and does not have to redeem chips still held by some of the players, Atlantic County Superior Court Judge James Isman held in a ruling made public Friday.
