Amid dismal economic times, wage-and-hour suits are on a rapid rise in New Jersey and nationally, and employment lawyers on both sides of the practice see no sign of the trend abating any time soon.

Filings under the Fair Labor Standards Act have increased 400 percent in the District of New Jersey over the past 10 years, to 148 in 2013 from 29 in 2004, according to court records.
