Pro se litigants who mishandle their own cases have the same right to seek redress as those hurt by negligent lawyering, a New Jersey appeals court has said in a precedential ruling.

The Appellate Division on Aug. 12 reversed a trial judge who refused to reopen the case of a private golf club member against whom a $260,000 judgment had been entered after he mishandled the matter.
