Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that there has recently been a flood of unaccompanied minors migrating to the United States, many of whom are fleeing violence, persecution, abuse or trafficking. Most of these minors are unrepresented and face deportation, especially with the recent order by the Executive Office of Immigration Review to speed up hearings for Central American children.

Public interest organizations are overwhelmed with the work they are receiving in this arena, and they need the legal community’s help. Since immigration court does not provide public defenders, attorneys and law students should volunteer their pro bono hours to such organizations (some suggestions and confirmed contact information is listed below).
