Separate putative class actions against Samsung over allegedly defective washing machines and refrigerators were pared down to varying degrees but were ultimately allowed to proceed in a pair of rulings posted by a federal judge in Newark on Aug. 26.

U.S. District Judge William Martini of the District of New Jersey granted in part and denied in part motions to dismiss the two actions, Durso v. Samsung Electronics America and Weske v. Samsung Electronics America.
