A federal judge has blocked New Jersey’s latest effort to pave the way for sports wagering—at least for the time being.

U.S. District Judge Michael Shipp of the District of New Jersey on Oct. 24 granted a temporary restraining order, sought by the nation’s four largest professional sports leagues and the National Collegiate Athletic Association, that stops Monmouth Park Racetrack from launching a sports book as of Oct. 26, as it planned to do.
