An attorney is walking his dog after a long day of depositions on Monday. Another lawyer is spending Saturday at a long-planned event with her family. The buzz and ping of a cellphone make these lawyers groan: It’s that same client texting again, wanting an immediate response.
The situation is becoming more common as texting becomes ubiquitous as a method of communication. What can lawyers do to rein in their texting clients? Solo practitioner Terry Traveland, of Plano, Tex., posed the question to her peers on the Facebook group “Make the State Bar of Texas Relevant!”
