The New Jersey chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) awarded Raymond “Skip” Connell the 2014 ABOTA Civil Trial Achievement Award, and retired Judge Mark Epstein received the 2014 Judicial Achievement Award at the group’s annual memorial dinner, held Sept. 11 at the Highlawn Pavillion in West Orange/Montclair. The organization also awarded a scholarship to both a Seton Hall Law School student and a Rutgers Law School student, both of whom are interested in pursuing a career as a trial attorney. Civil Justice Institute Hears Talk on Class Action Suits


During his remarks at the New Jersey Civil Justice Institute’s Fall Luncheon, held Sept. 16 at the Trenton Country Club in West Trenton, Ted Frank, the president and founder of the Center for Class Action Fairness, explained how the In re: Dry Max Pampers litigation illustrates, in his opinion, that the current class-action settlement case law incentivizes bad behavior, and what CCAF is doing to challenge the existing paradigm.
