A former prosecutor is seeking sanctions against the Christie administration for trying to compel him to produce metadata that he told them he does not have.

William McGovern moved for the sanctions on Oct. 29 in Barlyn v. Dow, where his one-time colleague, Bennett Barlyn, claims he was fired for objecting to what he saw as the state’s corrupt action in taking over a criminal case from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and getting the charges dismissed in order to protect political allies of the administration.
