Lean Back—A state appeals court last week upheld the dismissal of a suit against Wolff, Helies, Duggan, Spaeth & Lucas, lodged by a client allegedly injured when he fell out of a chair during a deposition at the firm’s Manasquan, N.J., office.
On Nov. 10, Appellate Judges Clarkson Fisher Jr. and William Nugent affirmed Monmouth County Judge Dennis O’Brien‘s ruling that there was no negligence on behalf of the firm, despite claims by Thomas Hickey and his wife, Geryl Hickey, that it breached its duty to maintain an office chair “in a safe condition.”
