Animal Friendly—A slew of bills aimed at curbing domestic animal abuse made it through the state Assembly last week with little opposition.
The bills, which passed on Dec. 15, are wide in scope, covering everything from mandatory prison for causing or threatening to cause harm to a search-and-rescue or law enforcement-trained dog, to outlawing the “needless mutilation” of animals by tattooing or piercing.
