The group with close ties to the Democratic Party that filed an ethics complaint against Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie over his trip to Texas to see the Dallas Cowboys-Detroit Lions playoff game is now asking federal prosecutors to investigate the trip to determine if any criminal laws were broken.
In a letter dated Jan. 9, the American Democracy Legal Fund (ADLF) asked U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman of the District of New Jersey to investigate whether Christie’s trip, which the governor’s office has said was paid for by Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones, violated federal anti-corruption laws.
