New Jersey judges are free to attend State of the State speeches and similar events and they can even wear their judicial robes but they must be “very circumspect in their demeanor and reactions,” according to newly issued guidelines from the state Supreme Court.
State Supreme Court justices have typically attended the annual State of the State address and they were all present, in their street clothes, on Jan. 13, when Gov. Chris Christie gave the 2015 speech.
