Fourteen mini baccarat players who won more than $1.5 million at the Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., are not entitled to the money because the deck of cards was not pre-shuffled, making the game unauthorized under state law, a New Jersey judge has held.
In a decision made public on Feb. 12 in Golden Nugget v. Gemaco, Superior Court Judge Donna Taylor in Atlantic County granted the casino summary judgment on its claim that its implied contract with the players was unenforceable due to illegality.
