The second-largest products liability result in 2014 was a $2.4 million settlement obtained Aug. 18, 2014, by attorney Norman Hobbie in Monaco v. Atlantic Trailer Leasing on behalf of a commercial truck driver who claimed a defective trailer caused him to break his elbow and injure his shoulder.
Joseph Monaco of Tinton Falls, New Jersey, then 54, was injured on June 24, 2011, while delivering furniture for his employer ABF Freight Systems, a Fort Smith, Arkansas-based trucking company, according to Hobbie.
