Sarah Palin and her political action committee have agreed in principle to pay $15,000 to settle a copyright infringement suit filed in federal court in Newark by North Jersey Media Group, but the deal has been held up by a lengthy dispute over the terms of a confidentiality agreement.

The suit concerns an iconic photo of firefighters raising an American flag over the ruins of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. The photo was taken by a photographer for The Record, one of the daily and weekly newspapers published by North Jersey Media Group. The suit claims the photo was posted on Palin’s Facebook page and on the website of her political action committee, SarahPAC, without permission.
