New Jersey Transit has paid $699,000 to settle a federal suit by an employee who claimed he suffered retaliation after seeking counseling for emotional trauma from witnessing a contractor’s death in an accident.
Anthony Araujo, a conductor-flagman for the railroad, settled the suit on March 23. He claimed New Jersey Transit violated the Federal Railroad Safety Act by retaliating against him for protected activities.
