Six months after Jacoby & Meyers was dismissed from a putative class action claiming it overcharges clients on litigation costs, the firm has been hit with a second suit raising similar allegations.

The latest suit was filed in federal court in Newark on Sept. 2 by Barbara Smalls, a New York resident who retained Jacoby & Meyers to handle a personal injury suit. She claims the firm took more than its fair share of her $100,000 settlement by billing $2,526 in costs to Total Trial Solutions, a company owned in part by Jacoby & Meyers managing partner Andrew Finkelstein.
