A woman who underwent three spinal fusion operations after an auto accident accepted $1.9 million to settle her Bergen County suit, Protano v. Bendavid, on Sept. 28.
Alisa Protano was driving on East Crescent Avenue in Upper Saddle River on Dec. 13, 2009, when her car was rear-ended by another car driven by Flor Ortiz. The street was icy at the time of the accident. Protano stayed in her car while waiting for police to arrive, when her car was hit by two other vehicles that lost control on the ice, according to her lawyer, James Sutton III of Vlasac & Shmaruk in Metuchen.
