The New Jersey judiciary, from the Supreme Court to the trial courts, experienced a very active year in 2015, issuing major rulings on affordable housing, public pensions, toxic spills, criminal law and labor and employment law.

Perhaps the most watched and waited for of any case in 2015 was Superior Court Judge Michael Hogan’s Aug. 25 decision to uphold the controversial $225 million settlement reached by the Christie administration and Exxon Mobil Corp. over contamination claims, including about $44.4 million in fees for the state’s outside counsel.
