The parents of a former student at a New Jersey prep school, who allegedly had a sexual relationship with a teacher as a minor and who apparently continues to be involved with him as an adult, may not sue the school for damages, a state trial judge has ruled.
In a unpublished decision, Essex County Superior Court Judge Thomas Vena said the Morristown-Beard School should not be held accountable for the alleged inappropriate sexual relationship between the teacher, Edward Sherman, and the former student, Sharon Zelnick, who was a minor at the time the relationship allegedly began.
