Ex-Rutgers University basketball coach Mike Rice, in an effort to block a former player’s civil rights suit against him, is arguing that a DVD documenting his abusive behavior towards players shows frustration over the team’s mistakes, not a desire to inflict harm.

The footage demonstrates that the coach’s conduct toward players fails to reach the level of deliberate indifference required to support the civil rights claim by plaintiff Derrick Randall, Rice claims in the Feb. 10 motion.
