Russell Gale was presented with the 2016 Edward Schoifet Family Law Award presented by the Family Law Section of the Middlesex County Bar Association. The presentation was held Jan. 20 at The Pines Manor in Edison, during the joint Middlesex/Union/Somerset Bar dinner meeting. The award, the highest honor presented by the Family Law Section, commemorates the legacy of Edward Schoifet who passed away in 2006. Considered the dean of the Middlesex County Family Bar, Schoifet was recognized as a role model for all family law practitioners. Gale was chosen by his colleagues to receive this award in honor of his long career as an accomplished family law attorney with the Central Jersey Legal Services Corporation. He received his B.A. degree from Rutgers University and his J.D. degree from Seton Hall University School of Law. While studying law at Seton Hall, he worked for Middlesex County Legal Services as a paralegal advocating for clients who had problems with welfare and food stamps. Gale began working for Legal Services as a VISTA volunteer during his undergraduate years at Rutgers University and, after receiving his law degree, Gale was hired as a staff attorney at Legal Services.
