Suspicious bookkeeping has come back to bite a New Jersey real estate lawyer who previously was censured for doctoring closing statements: This time he was stripped of his law license for paying himself out of his escrow account—in increments as low as about $5.
The state Supreme Court on March 9 disbarred Roger Weil of Middlesex for knowing misappropriation of escrow funds after a special master determined that he disbursed roughly $56,000 to himself.
