The City of Newark and federal investigators who have spent years scrutinizing what they determined to be unconstitutional practices in the city’s police department have put forward former state Attorney General Peter Harvey to serve as a court-appointed monitor for the agency.

Harvey is a partner at Patterson Belknap in New York, where he’s handled litigation and internal investigations since leaving the attorney general post roughly a decade ago.
