Urine Trouble—Jersey Central Power & Light has been hit with a suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey claiming its employee drug test program violates federal laws concerning persons with “shy bladder.”

A 22-year veteran lineman, Robert Crawn, claims he was fired for being unable to produce a urine sample during mandatory drug test on several occasions in 2015 and 2016. He is required to take periodic drug tests to comply with terms of his commercial driver’s license, even though his physician says he is unable to do so due to medication he takes, according to the suit. In October 2015, he was placed on suspension and ordered to enter a drug rehab program, even though he says he does not use illegal drugs. On Nov. 5, 2015, he was able to produce a sufficient urine sample, which tested negative for drugs, and he returned to work.
