A Clifton man’s lawsuit against MGM Studios Inc., alleging that the Oscar-nominated movie “Creed” came from his vision for a way to continue the “Rocky” franchise, has been removed to federal court. The movie centers on the son of Apollo Creed, once an opponent and later a friend of Sylvester Stallone’s titular Rocky.

Jarrett Alexander, an actor and lifelong fan of the “Rocky” series, according to a complaint filed in Superior Court of New Jersey, alleges a misappropriation of his idea, breach of implied contract and unjust enrichment. The suit also names Sylvester Stallone, the series’ star, among others.
