New Jersey state court judges’ chambers, in the main, still insist on the use of the fax.
While some efforts are made to accommodate communications by email, upon request or in emergencies, the default position remains use of the fax. It is hard to discern a rationale for this. Fear of spam or junk email is not a reason; there are plenty of spam and junk faxes, not to mention spam and junk calls to cellphones. This is the price paid for technology. But to insist on faxes is like insisting we still use the Delaware and Raritan Canal for transport instead of the trains.
