A New Jersey appeals court has rejected a constitutional challenge to the state’s mandate that hospitals provide charity care to patients who cannot afford to pay for medical care.

The three-judge panel, in an unpublished opinion issued May 20, did not rule on the merits of the challenge filed by eight hospitals, but rather said it was not the appropriate forum since there had been no findings of fact and no record developed.
