The middle may be a place where one is assumed to be indistinguishable from the other. The middle is where lawyers tend to hide their briefs’ weakest arguments. But the middle ain’t a bad place to be—a saying perhaps yet to be coined but certainly applicable to New Jersey firms and branches that find themselves in the middle ranks of the Law Journal’s annual survey of top-grossing firms.
Almost every one of the Nos. 8 through 15 firms on this year’s chart [see page 10] saw healthy gains in both New Jersey-based revenue and firmwide revenue.
